Inheriting a SECRET by Crystal Perkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Epic grovel!
The story is really cool, it has action scenes and some hilarious scenes. The story of the other characters continues and we learn more about them. The author captures the reader's attention from beginning to end. The women of Society are united once more to overcome danger and defeat evil. I recommend.
“Why did the maître d’ look at me like that when you sat down?”
“I don’t know,” I lie.
“Brayden.”
“Fine. I’ve brought many women here before, but never once have I sat across from one.”
“Where do you usually sit? Next to her?”
“Yes. Or more accurately, half on top of her as I stick my tongue down her throat.”

“What about Darcy? She’s one of your best friends, too. Before you got married, and Nate got Jade, the four of you were inseparable. Or did you conveniently forget that? Or forget your wife?”
“I didn’t forget. My gram is family, though, and I owe her too much to stand against her.”

“Too bad. Choices, Matt, choices.”
“I can’t help you with Darcy. Just with this.”
“Understood. I don’t agree with it, but I know that if Reina isn’t enough to change your mind, nothing I saw will change it either. Now, let’s get this all worked out.”
“I’ll get her in,” Scott says, all of a sudden on the call with us. Damn these tech savvy people. And love them at the same time. “I got the notification that your access was revoked, so I thought I’d jump into this call.”
“Your mom will be pissed if she finds out.”
“I’m not worried. Just walk me through the plan.”
I walk through the unlocked doors at exactly seven to find a smiling Caleb and Ethan waiting for me. The guards at the desk are slumped over, and the elevator is open.
“Hi guys. Do I even want to know what happened?”
“Dad and I made them some brownies,” Ethan tells me.
“With a few extra ingredients in them,” Caleb adds with a wink.

“I’ll understand if you need to side with her, Matt,” Jane Corrigan tells him.
“Family comes first. Always. When it didn’t, you know what happened. She’ll get over it.”
“We’re not going back without you,” Reina says, entering the room.
“What are you doing here, Rei?”
“I can’t be around Matt right now. His family loyalty bullshit is making me want to punch him. Hard.”

“You should’ve told me, Gram. I could’ve been helping Rei and the girls,” Matt says, looking pained.
“I gave you permission to stand against me.”
“I couldn’t do that. You’re my family.”
“So is Reina, and your other friends. They’re family, too, or at least I thought you felt that way. I fully expected you to stand with your wife.”
“You were obviously wrong,” Reina says...
==>DATING OW<==
“Welcome,” I say with a smile I’m not feeling, as the door opens.
The woman who walks through the door is exactly what I was expecting, and everything my heart doesn’t want. She has long, straight black hair and is dressed to within an inch of her life. She screams “money” and “designer” and I want to run.
“Hello, Brayden,” she says, batting her eyes. Honestly, she just batted her eyes at me.
Jen rolls her eyes at me, and I have to fight the urge to laugh. I hold my arm out to her, because it’s expected, and she grips it like it’s her lifeline. I flinch a little, and then smile when I see the hurt cross her face. Why did I think this was a good idea? Oh right, because I have to marry someone like her.
==>DATING OW<==
“Why are you even doing this?”
“Because I need a proper, royal wife.”
“I never wanted to be a king who fought for change.”
“So what, you’ll just be reformed playboy prince who takes the throne and does nothing?”
I’ve gone on dates with seven princesses in seven days. My coronation is in two days, and I haven’t made a choice yet. My mother’s been pressuring me to choose, while Jen and my uncle tell me what an idiot I am.
I had hoped I’d choose her, too. But I didn’t, and now we both have to live with my choice.
==>MATT AND REINA<==
“Can you please just try to not have cheating on me be your go to threat? It’s getting a little hard to take since you use it every time we fight.”
He looks stunned for a moment, and then ashamed. “Yeah. You’re right. Shit. I don’t even realize it half the time. I just don’t know what else I have that you could possibly want.”
