Yesterday Is Gone by H.J. Bellus
My rating: 2 of 5 stars
We have in this story elements already used and explored previously by many authors.
Nothing special or that will stay in the reader's memory.
More of the same.
Checking every existing cliché in stories with second chance.
✅ high school sweethearts
✅unplanned pregnancy
✅city hero athlete
✅hero more worried about his own career
✅demands that our heroine abort the baby and follow him as if nothing had happened. (How can the supposed love of your life ask you to get rid of the fruit of their love. He only thought about himself and his career, never stopping to think about the heroine's feelings. I would never forgive him.)
✅Our heroine kicks him out and follows her life alone, without relationships and without sex. (As always in these stories, only man has active sex life and relationships. After all, he was in a serious relationship with the heroine's enemy and fucking her. Not to mention the time he was an athlete at college, he must have had fun with many women. Our heroine stayed in limbo just working and taking care of their daughter. Typical.)
✅He is physically injured and has his career ended, returning to the city to be the coach of the local team. (If he had been successful I doubt that our heroine was ever remembered for him, let alone the child. Jerk!)
✅He is in a serious relationship with the nemesis of our heroine, the woman is a total bitch. But he was going to propose to her anyway. (With so many women in the world he went to choose our heroine's worst enemy to be his girlfriend. It's like the last nail in the coffin, I would not touch him if he was the last man in the world.)
✅Heroine is forced to return because of a death in her family.
✅You see, she raised her daughter for all these years alone with the support of her family and he followed through with his life as if nothing had happened.
✅He claims to have regretted it, but I think it was too little and too late.
✅OW causing drama and our heroine getting hurt again. Her insecurities surface and the hero is still offended by her attitude, but let's face it, he let her down when she needed him most.
✅Child behaving and talking like an adult. A 5/6 year old does not talk or behave like that ... at least the ones I had contact with. Just saying...
✅Dramalhama
✅Just a few caresses/fondles/kisses and our heroine forgives everything. I think the lack of sex affected her ability to reason and she was betrayed by the body.
✅ Some scenes studied to move the reader and show that our hero is worth and is a good person.
✅The End
