I was horrified by the attitude of club members in harassing a child and committing verbal and physical abuse. And the lack of support and being treated as a second class person. Club members are weak and despicable men.
They lost my respect by not protecting her.
As our heroine grew, the abuse continued and never treated her with respect or affection.
The only person who welcomed her with an open heart was her stepmother.
She should have turned her back on them and left town and restarted life in a place where the memories weren't so heavy.
I liked the story and was absorbed until the end.
