Neither Tara nor Drew can resist each other but are either of them strong enough to do the right thing?

Recomendo a leitura!

-----------------------------
This book is part of the "Being Yours" series and is already in the fourth book.
I recommend reading the previous books, but this book can be read alone without problems. You won't miss anything from the story, but you'll be curious about the characters from the author's previous books who participate in the story and make us want to reread it all over again.
The series has evolved well throughout the stories and the author's writing hooks us to the characters and events of the universe created by her.
I was so wrapped up in reading that by the time I reached the end of the story it was dawn and I didn't even notice the time passing by.
Our heroes meet in a bar and have a night of sex. Our heroine was a virgin, but she could not resist the charms of our alpha male. And the sex was hot and intense.
The other day they find out that they will work together and he will be the boss. He is not friendly at all and has a very hostile attitude.
She starts dating his best friend, just to piss him off.
My friends, this is where the story starts to get good.
A triangle is formed and doubts begin, friendships tested and boundaries crossed.
When besides physical attraction you start to like the person ... the inevitable happens.
The author knows how to create flawed characters that captivate us and make us cheer for them.
Follow the whole drama with an open mind prepared for strong scenes and also some laughs.
In the end I was captivated not only by Tara and Drew, but also by the irresponsible shit head Keller.
Now I hope the author writes his story. I'd love to see him change his attitude when he finds the right woman.
I recommend reading!

Review: Goalie

GoalieGoalie by M.E. Carter

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read several negative reviews and then I decided to read the book to see what was the whole thing.
The author wrote a story very realistic and it's not going to let that feeling good when you finish reading, but makes you think.
The hero is a professional athlete who has sex with his groupies that surround the players of his team. During the 10 years he was married to heroin and had 3 children he cheated his wife numerous times with different women. The hero leaves the reader with a lot of hate and disgust of his behavior.
She finally wake up to the situation and kick him out of the home and asks for a divorce. The heroine is the typical who was cheated and was the last to know everything.
He is reluctant to accept responsibility for what happened and keep making the same mistakes.
Our heroine is firm in her position and gradually gets stronger and independent despite still loving the hero.
I confess that if I was in her place I'd kick his butt out and wouldn't touch him anymore even with the tip of my finger. But she will slowly forgiving and he really tries to change his character and become a better person.
I was waiting for him to cheat again until the end and I got the feeling that she's going to have a very hard life trying to have peace knowing he won't be out there having sex with another woman. The trust will never be the same and I don't know if even a great love will sustain their marriage. But he seemed willing to change and actually slowly came to demonstrating that.
I like reading and more a cheater to my reading list.

Highlights:

"Admittedly, I haven’t been exactly celibate since Mari left me."

"there has never been a time in our entire relationship when Santos wasn’t cheating on me. Not in college. Not when we first got married. Not when I was pregnant. Not ever."

"How could you do this to me? To us? How could you humiliate me like that in front of everyone we know? Do you know what that’s like?"

"You’re not sorry for doing it; you’re sorry you got caught"

“So it never occurred to you that you kissed these whores on the mouth, probably right after they got done sucking someone else’s dick without a condom, did it?”
“God, Santos. It’s a wonder I don’t have herpes in my mouth, you asshole.”

"How many more pieces of myself can be broken before I disappear forever?"

"Have I really changed my patterns enough for Mari to trust me again? Obviously not since I just got a blow job from some random chick."

==>rolando de rir aqui! LOMAOF!
“You’re saying Santos cheated on me for all those years because he might have a medical condition that exacerbates his stupid superstitions?”
“I call bullshit.”
“Why?”
“Why?” I laugh, humorlessly. “Because we were married for ten years. He could have easily come home and gotten his ‘medical condition,’” I sarcastically use air quotes, “… under control with me. But he didn’t. He chose to go out and bang any groupie who was willing to spread her legs for him. No way. He made a choice. Every time.”

==>the prospects don't look very favorable for the couple
“Mari, the kind of trust I broke doesn’t take weeks or months to rebuild. It takes years. Years. You have every right to doubt me. I can promise all day long, but in the end, the only way to help you feel better is to show you. Never be sorry for looking. Never be sorry for reminding me not to let my guard down. This is how we’re going to rebuild what was broken. Together.”

Binding Arbitration by Elizabeth Marx

Binding Arbitration by Elizabeth Marx

ebook, 484 pages
Published June 17th 2012

Blurb:

Through the corridors of the Windy City’s criminal courts, single mother Libby Tucker knows exactly how far she’ll go to save her cancer-stricken son’s life. The undefeated defense attorney is prepared to take her fight all the way to the majors.

Circumstances force Libby to plead her case at the cleats of celebrity baseball player Banford Aidan Palowski, the man who discarded her at their college graduation. Libby has worked her backside bare for everything she’s attained, while Aidan has been indulged since he slid through the birth canal and landed in a pile of Gold Coast money. But helping Libby and living up to his biological duty could jeopardize the only thing the jock worships: his baseball career.

If baseball imitates life, Aidan admits his appears to be silver-plated peanuts, until an unexpected confrontation with the most spectacular prize that’s ever poured from a caramel corn box blindsides him. When he learns about his son’s desperate need, it pricks open the wound he’s carried since he abandoned Libby and the child.

All Libby wants is a little anonymous DNA, but Aidan has a magical umpire in his head who knows Libby’s a fateball right to the heart. When a six-year-old sage and a hippy priestess step onto the field, there’s more to settle between Libby and Aidan than heartache, redemption, and forgiveness.

Review:

This book was on my reading list for a long time and I was always putting off.
I confess that the story of the athlete who leaves his pregnant girlfriend and move on as if nothing had happened already was making me sick.
But I decided to stop avoiding the reading and it took me almost a week to complete.
I really liked heroine and how she managed to raise her son and finish her studies without the help of the hero who asked her to get an abortion when she refused he signed giving up rights as a father.
He proved to be selfish and spoiled just thinking about him and the wonderful future that awaited him. And he had a girlfriend that in the eyes of his family was perfect while involved with our heroine. He reneged on their relationship and seemed ashamed of it.
Over the years our heroine becomes a recognized professional and an exemplary mother, while his career is falling and his new fiancée becomes a nightmare. He is engaged to a rich and spoiled socialite who is a horrible person. I think they both deserve each other.
Our heroine comes into contact with the hero because she needs a bone marrow donor for their son who has cancer.
At first he is furious with her and just think of the impact that the discovery of an illegitimate child would cause in his image. Turns out he has a pristine image and the abandonment of a child would harm his future contracts.
At this point in the reading I was willing to abandon the reading, but I kept going and I was curious about how the author would make us like the hero and how he would make the heroine to forgive him.
The author really knew how to make the reader go discovering new layers of personality of each character that made them more human and likely to be forgiven by the actions of the past.
Adding in the story:
-a sick child,
-the need of heroine to help others and suffering the consequences for that,
-a partner in the firm she works for wanting to take advantage of the fact of her being a woman in the workplace,
-Mommy and Daddy issues,
-feel inadequate and unworthy of love, afraid to love and to be abandoned again,
-guilt by taking certain decisions that impacted on their future...
Adding to all this still a paranormal dose doing the reader be moved and spend a box of tissues...
At the end of it all it was a good read.
Love, family, forgiveness, hope for a better future and the certainty that we are not in this life by chance. We all have a purpose and need each other to complete our journey.

Beautiful Misery (Beautiful Series #2) by Chandin Whitten

Beautiful Misery (Beautiful Series #2) by Chandin Whitten

316 pages
Published October 2nd 2013

Altamente recomendado!

------------------------------------------
I loved the first book in the series and I fell in love with the Gage Tucker.
I was looking forward to finding out more about the character and if he could find a true love.
I confess that I cried for more than half of the book, really ... it's been a while since I cried so much with a story.
Our hero was in love with the heroine of the first book (Jenna Reylan) and is still trying to forget this love. It is very hard for him to witness her happiness and the arrival of her children with another man (Larkin).
Gage surrenders the partying, drinking and women. In this way he's taking life and try to overcome the loss of Jenna.
He has a one-night stand with Cobie Nayler (Larkin's sister) and she ends up pregnant. At first he gets a little not knowing what to do, after all he is not in love with Cobie and they wanted to have a night of sex only.
He ends up falling in love with the idea of being a father and having somebody to love. He directs all his love to the child and decides to take a chance so that the relationship with Cobie works out and they form a family.
There is a tragedy.
Cobie has cancer and until the child is born she chooses not to receive treatment. Our hero does everything that she has a wonderful end-of-life and end up liking her very much as a human being and as a friend. Both profess to love each other, but we know that their love is not the one true love that a man feels for a woman. Their love is based on friendship and ties that they created because of the birth of their daughter.
Has beautiful and very touching scenes!
He does everything so Cobie has a end of life happy and feel loved.
After her death he is dedicated to his career and the creation of his daughter.
Then he meets a woman that really brings back the feel again ... feel life flowing through his veins and the hope of happiness to happen again.
This woman called Annie and she's been through heavy losses in her life and she's afraid to get involved again. She has a five-year-old son and he is the reason of her life.
Both are too afraid.
Afraid to love and be rejected.
Afraid to love and to be abandoned.
Afraid to love and love to be taken by the tragedy.
There are so many fears that they end up in great conflict.
But both end up discovering that true love can arise suddenly and get the person off guard and that is magical when it happens for real.
I really liked the story and I'm looking forward to the history of other characters.
I didn't know this author and I ended up loving her work.
Highly recommended!!!

Beautiful Goodbye (Beautiful Series #1) by Chandin Whitten

Beautiful Goodbye (Beautiful Series #1) by Chandin Whitten

Kindle Edition257 pages
Published February 28th 2013

O melhor amigo dela é o Gage.

------------------------------------------------------
Mix a bunch of cute guys, muscled, tattooed, womanizers and all players who are away at College and getting ready to play in the NFL ... Add a bunch of crazy chicks to hunt them down, alcohol, parties, trouble with women, family troubles and you have a recipe for a pretty exciting book.
I chose the book randomly in my e-book reader and I was surprised. I thought it was very cool and I confess that I was very indecisive with the choice of heroin ... loved both Gage and Larkin ... Oh cruel doubt!
Her best friend is Gage. He's there for her at all hours, and she's been through horrors, but he always supported and showed his love for her. But she sees him just as his best friend. In his every gesture we realized that he is deeply in love with her and that he would give his life for her.
But then she meets Larkin and falls in love with him, despite her denying this feeling all the time, the feeling is there and ready to go out and show his face. Larkin also loves Jenna deeply and change their behavior for her.
With a lot of anguish and certain amount of confusion the story will progress and you might not even agree with the decisions that Jenna takes throughout history, but she has fear and insecurities that Gage only understands. After all the two have been friends forever.
I liked also the secondary characters, each one has a very nice personality and that certainly will be explored in other books of the series.
Many found the story predictable and corny, but it was exactly what I needed to read right now, so I recommend it to everyone.
